Charter for Employers
The Charter for Employers who are
Positive
About Mental Health is about working towards the
principles of it not the immediate fulfilment of them – signing up is
a step along a journey not the end of it. The Charter is a voluntary
agreement which seeks to support employers in working within the
spirit of its positive approach. MINDFUL EMPLOYER is not a policy, nor
a target nor a set of standards.
Employers
can be involved in the MINDFUL EMPLOYER initiative without signing up
to the Charter but many employers use it as a tangible display of
their commitment to improving the working lives of their staff. The
employers shown below have made a commitment to work towards the
aspirations of the Charter (each name carries a link).

The Charter signatories shown above
represent over 960,000 employees. To date, 115
signatories have completed their
first
review
of their commitment to the Charter (which takes place two years
after signing) and over 50 are currently undertaking it. Two employers
have completed their second, 5 year, review.
Since MINDFUL EMPLOYER began in October 2004, 26
signatories have since ceased operating or merged with another
organisation, 34 have withdrawn for a variety of reasons and 31 employers
have had their Charter revoked due to not completing the review
process - these are not shown above.
Several other employers are actively considering making
this important demonstration of their commitment to their employees.
It's open to any employer - small, medium or large;
public, private or voluntary sector, anywhere in the UK. See which
