New Charter Signatories
Small, medium, large, private, public and voluntary sector employers from all around the UK have made a tangible commitment to their staff by signing the Charter for Employers who are Positive About Mental Health. The newest signatories to this voluntary, aspirational approach are:
AbbeyCare Haywards Heath
Carnell Support Services Staffordshire
Hull University Union
Mind in West Essex
Onelan Ltd Reading
Openfield Agriculture Grantham
Royal Wootton Bassett Academy Trust
Scottish Youth Parliament
Over 100 signatories have also taken advantage of confidential helplines for staff and managers – MINDFUL EMPLOYER Plus is available exclusively to Charter signatories for just £1+VAT per person per year (it can cover volunteers and apprentices too).
Having the conversation
It’s well recognised that one of the most important areas involved in supporting staff who have a mental health condition is about enabling employees to feel able to talk and managers to know how to respond. There’s no reason at all why a manager should automatically know what to do so we produced a range of publications to help all concerned and also a film which illustrates the difficulties which arise through not talking and the benefits of having that conversation.
Mental health awareness training
We provide a range of workshops for managers and staff which can be delivered to your organisation on site, anywhere in the UK. These workshops can also be made bespoke in nature and until Christmas, you can book 2018 dates at 2017 prices.
In other news…
- MINDFUL EMPLOYER is run by Workways, a service of Devon Partnership NHS Trust based at New Leaf on the edge of Exeter – the Trust is looking for a Vocational Service Manager to lead those services so why not take a look at the vacancy details.
- We were delighted that nearly 300 people visited our stand at the CIPD Annual Conference and Exhibition earlier this month. Most hadn’t heard about what we provide before then so it was good to meet so many new people.
- We were also pleased to be invited to speak at a Westminster Employment Forum Conference which focussed on the publication of the excellent Stevenson-Farmer review in to workplace mental health – do take time to read this report, Thriving at Work which includes a reference to MINDFUL EMPLOYER. The government’s response to the report’s recommendations is expected soon.
