National Social Inclusion Project
The National Social Inclusion Programme has brought together
the work of government departments and other organisations
to challenge attitudes, enable people to fulfil their aspirations and improve opportunities and outcomes for people with mental health
problems including in the area of employment.
SHIFT
Shift is a five year initiative (2004-2009) in England to tackle stigma and
discrimination surrounding mental health issues. SHIFT is leading on the government's
Action on Stigma initiative to promote mental health and end discrimination at work.
Employ ability Employ ability is for managers and employers who want to know
how they can use the talent and skills of disabled people and those with
long-term health conditions. Practical information and support is available to
help make employing and retaining disabled people as easy as possible.

in relation to health management including their Absencia
programme.
Employment Assistance Programmes (EAPs)
Overseen by the UK
Employee Assistance Professionals Association
(EAPA), EAPs are applicable to any size of business but are
more commonly associated with large employers (250 employees and
above). Options for small and medium size businesses (up to 250
employees) include private practice counsellors who specialise in
the provision of workplace counselling listed in a directory
produced by the
British Association for Counselling and
Psychotherapy and also contact the
Association for Counselling at
Work.
